Though an official decision on his status won't be made until he consults with doctors Thursday, Gonzalez is generally expected to miss the remainder of the season, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. Gonzalez received some more unfortunate news Wednesday in a season that's been full of it, as a recent MRI revealed that the condition of his left knee is actually worsening, despite the outfielder having not played in a game since Aug. 8. He's been bothered by tendinitis in the knee all season, and with the Rockies owning the worst record in baseball at this time, it probably makes sense to let the franchise cornerstone pick up some rest. At this point, the only way Gonzalez would have a chance at playing again in 2014 would be if the team decides to go the rest-and-rehab route, though surgery or other treatment options would probably offer a higher chance at rectifying the issue.
