Thole was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday. Dioner Navarro was placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday so the Blue Jays needed a backup catcher. Navarro is out with a strained hamstring, so he could require a few weeks to get right, but Thole won't see more than one or two starts per week while Russell Martin is healthy.
