The White Sox have shut down Jake Peavy for the rest of the season. "Hopefully a few days' rest and the offseason will help Peavy go back to what he was," Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I don't think there is any reason to go out and push something you don't have to and (make) it worse." Peavy has admitted that he still doesn't feel 100 percent recovered from his shoulder surgery, and while there wasn't really worry that he would re-injure himself, it makes sense to go ahead and shut him down since the Sox are out of the race. "The decision's been made and I think it's a good one," Peavy said. "Obviously, it has been a grind." The right-hander finishes the season 7-7 with a 4.92 ERA in 111 2/3 innings. It's not clear who will take his spot in the rotation on Wednesday, but Dylan Axelrod is one option.
