The Reds have broached the topic of a multi-year contract extension with right-handed starter Mat Latos.
Latos is arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter and won't be eligible for free agency until after the 2015 season. So there's no real rush from either side. "We're taking a look to see if it works," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said Thursday. "If not, we'll go year to year. We'd prefer something long term eventually."
