The Philadelphia Phillies activated second baseman Chase Utley from the disabled list Friday after he recovered from an ankle injury, according to the team's official website. Utley lost his role as the starting second baseman after a rough start to the season when he hit .179 in 65 games, but interim manager Pete Mackanin said he will try to keep Utley fresh by getting him regular at-bats. "I'm going to do as much as I can to try to get [Utley] in there four days a week," Mackanin told MLB.com. "I've already had a meeting with Cesar, Freddy and [Maikel] Franco. And even with Whitey [Andres Blanco]. They're all aware of the situation and the need to get Chase at-bats." Utley replaced Jordan Danks on the active roster. The Phillies will enter Friday's game against the San Diego Padres with a 42-67 record, putting them in last place in the National League East.
