The Padres and LHP Joe Thatcher avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $700,000 contract. Thatcher pitched only 10 innings last season due to a shoulder injury. He was dominant in 2010 and 2009, however, and will try to bounce back this year with better health.
