The Padres and 3B Chase Headley have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.475 million contract. Headley drew a decent amount of trade interest this winter, but the Padres weren't blown away by any one offer. He batted .289 with a .773 OPS in 113 games last season for San Diego while earning a $2.325 million wage and will start at third base again in 2012.
