The Mets will activate Lugo (elbow) from the disabled list to start a game during the team's four-game series with the Braves next weekend, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lugo was impressive in his fourth rehab start Saturday with Double-A Binghamton, striking out eight batters and allowing one run in seven innings and tossing 94 pitches. While Lugo was rehabbing, general manager Sandy Alderson suggested the right-hander would be used as a starter upon his return from the DL, and manager Terry Collins backed up that claim Saturday. Collins said that Lugo would take the hill either June 10 for one of the two games of the doubleheader or June 11 in the series finale. With Steven Matz (elbow) also set to join the rotation with Lugo next weekend, Robert Gsellman and Tyler Pill are expected to either move to the bullpen or report to Triple-A Las Vegas.
