The Mets officially named David Wright as team captain on Thursday afternoon. Wright is the fourth captain in team history, joining Keith Hernandez, Gary Carter and John Franco. "This is probably one of the proudest days of my career so far," said Wright. The 30-year-old owns a .301/.381/.506 batting line over nine seasons with the Mets and is poised to finish his career with the club after agreeing to an eight-year, $138 million extension in December.
