The Mets have recently discussed moving Noah Syndergaard to the bullpen and calling up Matz, Mike Puma of the NY Post reports.
Syndergaard would be used to set up Jeurys Familia while Matz would slide into Syndergaard's rotation spot. The Mets have struggled to find a bridge to Familia and Syndergaard's high-90s fastball and 'hook from hell,' could fill that spot. This is from a done deal, as both Syndergaard and Matz profile starting pitchers, so view this as an outside possibility for the time being.
What the hell is wrong with the front office? Why put the best pitching prospect that we have in the pen after he has been pretty good recently. Put gee in the pen and put matz there! This is the worst idea ive heard in a long time
Agree that is dumb. Syndergaard is really, really good and Matz may very well be too. Gee and Niese are nice fillers, but in time Wheeler returns and I think they need to trade a hurler not named Harvey or deGrom to get some more punch in that lineup. Symdergaard may prove, in time, to be better than all of them, so let's not put him in the pen. No trading him either, unless the Phish wanna part with Stanton...now that'd light a fire under New York.
About the Marlins trading for pitching i highly doubt it they have Jose Fernandez who IMO has had better stuff than Harvey, Henderson Alvarez as well as latos etc
