The Marlins and Nationals are interested in free agent infielder Jeff Baker, reports CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. Baltimore might get involved as well. Baker was a useful part-time player with the Rangers last season, slashing .279/.360/.545 with 11 home runs in 74 games, though he faded significantly after a thumb injury around midseason. He's plenty useful as a sort of Swiss Army Knife: Baker can play multiple positions, he has more pop than your typical utility player, and he kills southpaws. As long as he isn't misused, Baker should be a nice bench piece in 2014.
