The Diamondbacks and Daniel Hudson are discussing a contract that would avoid salary arbitration, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com is hearing. Hudson is rehabbing from his second Tommy John surgery that's limited him to just nine starts since the beginning of 2012. The team would like to avoid arbitration with the right-hander, and they've got until Monday to decide whether to offer him arbitration. If the Diamondbacks decline to offer him arbitration Hudson would become a free agent. Either way, the 26-year-old will have to settle for a one-year deal and hope to rebuild his value during the 2014 season.
