The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo reports the Red Sox have decided to pass on Derek Lowe. Cafardo suggests a reunion is still possible if Lowe passes through waivers, but it sounds like they won't trade anything of value for him. In addition to the Red Sox, the Orioles are expected to have some level of interest in the veteran right-hander.
