The Angels are not expected to make Jason Vargas a qualifying offer. They are interested in doing a multi-year deal with the impending free agent, though, and Vargas has expressed interest in returning. The left-hander posted a 4.02 ERA and 1.39 WHIP this season while missing nearly two months of action after having surgery to remove a blood clot in his left armpit.
