Teixeira attempted to hit off a tee Friday, describing the activity as "very painful," MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports. Teixeira said that he's still hopeful about avoiding the DL, but with the first baseman only putting his health at about 50 percent at the moment, it's hard to be optimistic about his chances of returning in the next couple of days. Despite being nicked up repeatedly this season, Teixeira has managed to remain fairly productive on a per-game basis, homering 19 times and driving in 52 runs in 84 games.
