Taillon (elbow) threw 74 pitches without issue in a five-inning start at extended spring training. Taillon continues to make good progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, and it is entirely possible that he could be assigned to a minor league affiliate in the coming days. With a well-built pitch count, Taillon stands a good chance of being recalled by the Pirates sometime this summer, or perhaps in September, if they need to dip into the minor leagues for a starting pitcher.
