EDGE Analysis
Coming off one of his best outings of the year, Manning got off to a rough start with a 32-pitch, four-run first inning. The right-hander walked Starling Marte on six pitches, then walked Matt Chapman with two outs. Jed Lowrie took advantage by launching a three-run home run. Next up, Mark Canha sent a solo shot over the wall to make it 4-0. Manning never recovered from there, resulting in his sixth loss of the season. The 23-year-old will bring a 6.29 ERA and 1.60 WHIP into his next projected start Wednesday at Pittsburgh.
