Szczur was optioned to Triple-A Iowa prior to the Cubs' game Sunday against the Padres. With the Cubs in need of extra relief arm following Saturday's 11-inning affair, Szczur was deemed expendable. The outfielder's playing time certainly reflected as much, as he's received just 10 at-bats since making the Cubs' Opening Day roster. He'll be able to play more regularly in the minors.
