Suzuki is out of the lineup Friday against the Rockies, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Manager Don Mattingly isn't forcing the issue with Suzuki as he approaches 3,000 career hits, but it would be surprising if the 42-year-old didn't get a start either Saturday or Sunday with two right-handers (Chad Bettis and Jon Gray, respectively) due up for Colorado. Suzuki hasn't started a game since July 29 and is 8-for-34 (.235 average) so far in the second half.
