Gausman improved to 10-5 on the season Wednesday after limiting the Diamondbacks to one run on five hits and no walks while striking out eight over six innings in the Giants' 7-1 win. San Francisco manager Gabe Kapler said after the game that Gausman will be placed on the paternity list Thursday while he and his wife await the birth of their second daughter, Maria I. After posting an 8.49 ERA and 2.23 WHIP in his first three starts out of the All-Star break, Gausman finally got back on track against the hapless Diamondbacks. With his wife due to give birth Friday, Gausman appears unlikely to make the trip to Milwaukee this weekend for the Giants' three-game series with the Brewers. That said, he should be ready to go when his next turn in the rotation comes up Tuesday or Wednesday, when he'll face the Diamondbacks once again.
