New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz (illness) threw a side session on Wednesday, after being sent home early Tuesday due to an illness. Originally scheduled to pitch on Friday in Grapefruit League play, Matz will now start on Saturday. Matz is currently in a competition with Michael Wacha for the Mets fifth rotation spot.
