Stephen Drew is batting eighth and playing shortstop Monday in his 2014 regular-season debut. Drew batted eighth primarily last season for the Red Sox but could work his way up the order this year as he settles in. The 31-year-old signed a one-year contract worth about $10 million on May 20 with Boston and will be the starting shortstop going forward, pushing Xander Bogaerts over to third base. Drew was 5-for-21 (.238) with zero homers and two RBI on his seven-game minor league tuneup.
