Hays (hamstring) was assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday.

The 29-year-old landed on the injured list with a strained hamstring Aug. 9, so he's already eligible to rejoin the active roster. Given the brevity of the absence, Hays should require only a couple games in the minors to get back up to speed.
