Garcia (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Garcia landed on the shelf with a lower-back strain Aug. 17, and he's now been cleared for game action in the minors. It should be a brief rehab stint for the 31-year-old given the brevity of his absence.
