Starting for the first time in five days, Kyle Blanks homered and walked Wednesday against the Orioles. Carlos Quentin will probably prove to be a better hitter than Blanks this season, but there's no doubt the Padres would have been better off starting Blanks regularly in his place over the first month and a half. Quentin did have a hit today, though: his popup to shallow right got lost in the sun by Ryan Flaherty. If only he had run it out rather than sulked, he would have had a double instead of a single.
