Stanton (wrist) underwent surgery Sunday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. The procedure went as anticipated, and Stanton will be sidelined for the next 4-to-6 weeks as a consequence. Stanton had vaulted himself into the MVP discussion after batting .265 with 27 homers and 67 RBI over 74 games, but as has been the case in previous seasons, injury issues might once again end up being his undoing. The Marlins are expected to award more at-bats to Ichiro Suzuki while Stanton remains sidelined.
