Stanton (head) received stitches and was released from the hospital Friday morning. Surgery is not expected to be necessary, the Associated Press reports. Stanton was hit in the face by a Mike Fiers pitch Thursday night and suffered facial injuries as well as dental damage. While it's certainly encouraging to see him discharged from the hospital less than 24 hours later, Stanton's season is likely over, as he'll require at least a few weeks to recuperate. The NL MVP candidate is hitting .288 with 37 home runs and 105 RBI.
