Stanton and the Marlins are discussing a deal that would be for at least 10 years and at least $300 million, FOXSports.com reports. "We're having continual dialogue," Marlins GM Dan Jennings said Thursday. "I wouldn't say we're close to anything." The proposed contract would be the largest in professional sports history, exceeding the 10-year, $292 million deal the Tigers' Miguel Cabrera signed last year. Stanton has openly questioned the commitment of the Marlins' ownership in the past, but the team took a step forward this past season (77-85), and president of baseball operations Michael Hill suggested just this week that the team may be willing to reverse its longstanding club policy of not including no-trade clauses in contracts for Stanton. The 25-year-old Stanton hit .288/.395/.555 with an NL-leading 37 homers and 105 RBI in 145 games before being hit by a pitch and suffering multiple facial fracture in mid-September.
