Solano was called up from Triple-A New Orleans on Friday. The catcher will join the Marlins to take the place of Jared Saltalamacchia, who was placed on the paternity list. Solano, who signed with the Marlins as a camp invitee back in December, has not appeared in a major league game since 2013, when he saw action in 24 contests for the Nationals. He was hitting just .185 with three RBI in 27 Triple-A at-bats (seven games).
