Smith was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Smith had been sent back to Triple-A just four days earlier, but he'll be eligible to return to the big leagues sooner than expected after the Yankees placed outfielder Aaron Hicks (oblique) on the 10-day disabled list Sunday in a corresponding move. Though he had previously made two starts for the Yankees this season, Smith will be in store for mop-up work out of the bullpen in his latest stint in the majors.
