Smith was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports. Smith owns a 2.31 ERA over eight appearances for the sounds this season, but is only 2-for-4 in save opportunities for the sounds. He'll provide depth in the bullpen for the Athletics, who demoted the struggling Ryan Cook in a corresponding move.
