Smith is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Royals, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports. Smith has started the last six games in the outfield, but he'll take a seat with left-hander Danny Duffy on the mound for Kansas City. The Mariners will go with a starting outfield of Austin Jackson (center), Franklin Gutierrez (left) and Mark Trumbo (right).
