While Simon is still penciled in for a rotation spot to begin the season, his struggles in the second half last season were already cause for concern about his ability to stick as a starter on a team with playoff aspirations. Simon has allowed 13 runs on 19 hits over 16.2 innings, while carrying a 10:5 K:BB. If Simon were to struggle and fall out of the rotation, the Tigers may turn to Kyle Lobstein as his replacement.
