Simon's father is battling an illness, so he has left the team and will not take the ball Thursday as anticipated. Simon can be on the bereavement list for a minimum of three but a maximum of seven games, so it remains to be seen when he will start next. The Tigers have not yet officially announced a starter for Thursday's game, but Kyle Ryan is the favorite to fill Simon's spot.
