Simmons, who was a late scratch Monday, is dealing with a right hand contusion.

He suffered the injury when his hand was jammed in Sunday's game, and was scratched a few hours prior to Monday's game after being in the initial lineup. Cliff Pennington got the start at shortstop Tuesday. Simmons should be considered day-to-day.
