Spitzbarth signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Thursday, Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports.

Spitzbarth was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis in early November, but he'll have a chance to carve out a role in the Tigers' minor-league system to begin the 2022 season. The 27-year-old made 42 appearances at the Triple-A level last year and posted a 2.12 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 46.2 innings.
