Kennedy signed a one-year, $4.75 million contract with the Diamondbacks on Sunday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kennedy pitched for the Diamondbacks from 2010 to 2013, and he'll return to the organization after spending time with Texas and Philadelphia last year. The right-hander operated in a high-leverage role in 2021 and converted 26 of 30 save chances while posting a 3.20 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 56.1 innings across 55 appearances between his two clubs. Kennedy will likely have a setup role early in the 2022 season after Arizona signed Mark Melancon during the offseason.
