Shreve was traded to the Yankees on Thursday along with David Carpenter for Manny Banuelos, Jack Curry of YES Network reports. Shreve's major league career got off to a brilliant start, with a 0.73 ERA (1.43 FIP) and 1.05 WHIP in 15 appearances out of the Braves' bullpen last season. The lefty also posted outstanding strikeout rates in the minors in 2014, but he had a reverse platoon split at both Double-A and the majors, and just a 43:30 K:BB in the minors in 2013. Perhaps he's not an ideal fit for a specialist role, but the 24-year-old Shreve should be able to carve out a spot toward the front end of the Yankees' bullpen in spring training.
