Shoemaker pitched just five innings in Tuesday's win over Oakland, allowing two runs on four hits en route to a no-decision. He struck out four and walked three.
EDGE Analysis
Last season was a weird one for Shoemaker, who posted an 8.49 ERA and 22:13 K:BB through his first seven starts, then miraculously saw the light come on -- over the remainder of the season, he put up a 2.83 ERA with a 121:17 K:BB. In that context, this isn't such an ignominious start, but Shoemaker did labor through those five frames, throwing 99 pitches. He'll look for better results in Sunday's home start against Seattle.
