Shoemaker (forearm) is not ready to come off the disabled list, and is headed back to Southern California to be reevaluated, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Shoemaker was looking to return Sunday for a matchup with the Red Sox, but instead will head back to get checked out again before returning to the big-league club. Parker Bridwell is in line to make another start with Shoemaker still recovering from a forearm extensor strain. Although the right-hander played catch Tuesday and Wednesday without any hiccups, the Angels are going to stress precaution with Shoemaker to make sure he's good to go by the time he steps back on the mound.
