Shoemaker allowed one run (zero earned) on five hits over six innings to pick up a no-decision against the Royals in Game 2 of the ALDS on Friday. He struck out six and did not walk a batter in the contest. Shoemaker showed that the oblique issue that sideline him for the final two weeks of the season was no issue Friday, as he was able to shut down the Royals after a misplay by Kole Calhoun in the first inning led to an unearned run. The 27-year-old was certainly impressive in the first postseason start of his career, but it was not enough as the Angels lost in extra frames for the second straight night. He will need to hope the team can battle back to allow him to get on the mound for a deciding Game 5.
