Shields allowed just one run across seven innings Sunday against the Dodgers, striking out six and walking three. He did not factor into the decision. The right-hander, who scattered five hits on the day, needed just 86 pitches to make it through seven frames and was only scored upon via solo home run. Shields was in position to win the game when he was removed, but a late Dodgers surge took the game into extras and ruined his chances of moving to 8-0. He will take a 3.59 ERA and a 10.8 K/9 into Friday's start against the Diamondbacks.
