Shields (2-5) took another loss despite turning in six solid innings Thursday against Detroit. He allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
Both runs came home on solo homers in the fifth inning, and that was enough to sink Shields in this rain-shortened game. Shields has recovered impressively from the legendarily bad stretch that started his White Sox career, as he's now turned in five consecutive starts of six or more innings and two or fewer runs. However, the strikeouts still aren't there and he's still giving up plenty of homers, so it's hard to expect Shields to sustain this streak.
