Shaw went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in Friday night's loss to the Blue Jays. He also committed his team-leading seventh error of the season.
EDGE Analysis
It was a tough overall night for Shaw, who had mishaps in the field, at the plate and running the bases. He failed to deliver in three plate appearances with men in scoring position, his error led to an unearned run, and he got caught off second base on ground ball back to the mound. After a promising start to the season, Shaw has hit the skids, batting .183 (11-for-60) with 20 strikeouts in the previous 15 games. Replacing Pablo Sandoval with Shaw was the right move, but if Shaw's not a long term answer, the Red Sox will need Brock Holt (concussion) to return soon.
