Shaw was the starting third baseman for Thursday's game against the Mets. He went 0-for-3 and is now batting .419 this spring.
EDGE Analysis
With Pablo Sandoval (back) expected to miss a few days, Shaw will get the majority of innings at third base. Red Sox manager John Farrell hasn't made any reference to Sandoval being headed for the disabled list, though it something that might be in play the longer Sandoval remains out. In that event, Shaw would open the season as Boston's starting third baseman and an extra roster spot would open up, most likely for an outfielder.
