Severino seems like a logical candidate to join the Yankees' rotation with Chad Green optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees seemed intent on keeping Severino in the bullpen for the time being, but the 22-year-old may very well have forced their hand with his outstanding performance in relief of Green on Wednesday. Severino allowed just one unearned run on one hits, walking one batter and striking five, over 4.1 innings Wednesday (60 pitches). When asked about the possibility of Severino rejoining the rotation after the game, manager Joe Girardi told Newsday, "Obviously that's going to be talked about a lot. He looked really good tonight." Severino would be in line for a two-step right away if he were to get the call to the rotation, with matchups at Boston and against Tampa Bay.
