Severino has made the Yankees' rotation as the fourth starter, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old looks to rebound after absorbing a 5.83 ERA in 71 innings last year (22 appearances, 11 starts) that involved a demotion to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and a bullpen stint, where he might've figured things out (0.39 ERA, 9.6 K/9, 3.9 BB/9 in 23.1 frames). Severino's 3.95 ERA this spring was just shaky enough to have the decision come down to the wire, but the right-hander showed good command (16 strikeouts, five walks), which worked in his favor. His dazzling 2015 debut (2.89 ERA, 8.1 K/9, 3.2 BB/9 in 11 starts) keeps open the possibility of a true breakout over a full season. Upside chasers in fantasy leagues can give him another try but should handle using him cautiously out of the gate if possible.
