Seth Smith missed the cycle by a single and drove in four Saturday as the Padres topped the Marlins 9-3. Smith also had a walk to go along with his homer, triple and double. He struggled for most of April after homering the first two days of the season, but he's gone 15-for-27 with 10 extra-base hits in his last seven games to take his OPS from .723 to .994. Whereas he seemed like a prime candidate to lose at-bats to Carlos Quentin, there's no longer much chance of that happening, even if it will leave the Padres with a pretty awful defensive outfield.
