Seth Smith blasted a game-tying, pinch-hit home run in the eighth inning on Sunday, propelling the Padres to a 3-1 victory over the Dodgers in the season opener. Smith came on to lead off the eighth inning, and launched the third pitch he saw from Brian Wilson over the boards to tie the game at 1-1. He's expected to see regular playing time in the Padres outfield against right-handed pitching this season, and could be worthy of mixed league consideration.
