Sergio Santos survived a shaky ninth inning to convert his fifth save of the season Friday night against the Indians.
Coming off one of the worst outings you could ever imagine Thursday against the Twins, Santos entered the bottom of the ninth inning Friday with a one-run lead. He allowed a leadoff double to Lonnie Chisenhall before striking out Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher. However, he then issued consecutive walks to Jason Kipnis and Carlos Santana to load the bases. As opposed to Thursday night, he didn't implode this time, as he got Michael Brantley to ground out to first base to end it. It wasn't pretty, but it qualifies as a bounce-back outing. With Casey Janssen's setback, Santos should continue to get save chances for Toronto in the short-term.
